Aminath Shiyama, Claire Lee and Fathimath Nasiha presented a paper entitled Our World, Our Futures: Exploring transformative environmental and global citizenship education in Maldivian and English primary schools at the 2023 UKFIET Conference, Oxford, on 12th September 2023.
The lively discussion that followed focused on how projects like ours demonstrate potential for contesting shallow pedagogical practices and overcoming epistemic injustice. Audience members considered the question of how such pedagogies could become embedded within educational systems.
